Family Work

The early years of a child’s life are critical in providing experiences that enable them to develop healthy relationships with others and to thrive in later life. Adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s); that is repeated experiences of stress, such as abuse, neglect or domestic violence, often results in developmental trauma, which can lead to significant issues of mental and physical health both in childhood and adulthood.

Therapeutic parenting offers a very nurturing and structured approach to parenting which enables a child to feel safe, accepted, loved and connected with their parent. The attachment bond is strengthened, fostering resilience which leads to the long term improvement of mental and physical health. I offer Filial Therapy and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), as a DDP informed therapist.
